New crossover based on Volkswagen Golf will debut in Geneva

In the spring of 2017 in the framework of the Geneva Motor Show, German company Volkswagen plans to introduce a new compact SUV based on the VW Golf model. The novelty will become the serial embodiment of the concept T-Roc Concept and receive an extended range of power trains. New compact SUV Volkswagen will draw inspiration from the conceptual model T-Roc Concept which made its debut back in 2014.

The novelty will be based on a modular platform MQB. However, if the concept was presented in the 3-door modification, the production model will get a more practical five-door body. According to preliminary data, the new compact SUV based on the VW Golf will receive a similar wheelbase of 2 640 mm. It is expected that the new product will receive the following dimensions: length – 4178 mm, width – 1831 mm, height – 1501 mm. Conceptual model T-Roc Concept had the same dimensions.

The motor range of the novelty will include petrol and diesel power units, producing from 113 to 241 horsepower. In addition, in the future the car will get a hybrid and fully electric version. New VW Golf SUV in the standard version will be available with front-wheel drive, but customers can order all-wheel drive system as an option. Engines will be paired with both mechanical and automatic gearbox DSG.
