GTI charged modification for the compact Volkswagen up!

At 2017 GTI festival, that took place on the Werther-Ze Austrian Lake’s shore, Volkswagen brand will show firstly the charged Volkswagen up! GTI. The carmakers emphasize that the novelty is like an ideological successor of the first Golf GTI of 1976 model year. The updated version has got new bumpers, 17-inch wheels, as well as a spoiler on the tailgate and a GTI-design with red stripes on the grille and stern. Inside of the car there are decorative inserts and checkered seat upholstery.

The hatchback’s dimensions make 3 600 mm in lengths with 2 407 mm wheelbase. The weight of the novelty is equal to 997 kg. The power unit is presented by 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbo engine delivering 115 horsepower and 200 Nm of torque. The motor is mated to a six-step mechanic transmission. Technically, Volkswagen up! GTI takes 8.8 seconds to get 100 km/h; the top speed is 197 km/h. In addition, the charged version received 15 mm lowered clearance in comparing with the standard model.

The Volkswagen up! GTI novelty will go on sale in early 2018. It also will be available to buy three- and five-door versions. The prices for the novelty are not yet announced.
